At Lovey’s Oven Bakeshop, our Christmas Cookie Fundraiser is about more than frosting and sprinkles — it’s about love, legacy, and giving back.

We have chosen to support the Adopt a Grandparent program this year, a cause that is deeply personal to our family.

A Message From Kayla Woodling, Founder of the Adopt a Grandparent Fundraiser

As some of you know, both my grandma and grandpa have gone to heaven since I started the Adopt a Grandparent fundraiser. This will be the 5th year that we return to the same assisted living facility they called home to deliver Christmas gifts to the residents. This year, we won’t get to give them a gift of their own. I miss them so much, but I know in my heart they would want me to continue blessing the other residents by continuing Adopt a Grandparent.

Below is the original post I shared in 2021 — the message that started it all:

“As some of you know, my grandpa is in an assisted living facility. I visit him about once a week to talk about life and bring him his favorite… Whataburger!! I always bring him something when I come, whether it’s a meal, a puzzle, or some sweets (he loves dessert)! I walk by multiple other residents every week wishing that I had something to give them too… I don’t know if they have family close by who come to visit, I don’t know if they’ve been abandoned, or if they have received any type of gift in years…

I want to ask my friends to please consider Adopting A Grandparent. You can adopt as many as you wish, and a card with your name on it will go with your gift! This is a great opportunity for companies as well to help their community (so please mention it to your employer)! My goal is to give every resident in my grandpa’s wing a Christmas gift this year!!”

This mission began from a single weekly visit and has grown into a community tradition filled with love, compassion, and purpose. Thank you for continuing to support this fundraiser and helping us spread joy to seniors who deserve to be remembered and celebrated.
